Rising Star – Lillie Crawley’s Collection
Hi, I’m Lillie! I was recently chosen by Look Again to design my very own collection for them (I still have to pinch myself sometimes!).
A bit about me
It felt so surreal as I’m just a normal girl from a normal background – designing my own clothing collection that will actually go on sale on the look again website. I’m a true Dorset girl with a love for the South Coast, but I couldn’t ignore my creative instincts when they were calling out for the city! So I left the beautiful countryside to start my degree in Fashion Design at Nottingham Trent University – and I didn’t look back! Since graduating, I’ve worked in London in the fashion industry and I’m still working on my Look Again collection – which I love!
Being creative has always been a big part of my life. As a young girl, I’d spend my time illustrating fashion drawings and experimenting with clothes and style. I’ve grown up surrounded by fashion, as my family and heritage leads back to a long line of tailors and corsetieres, so working in this industry felt like a natural progression for me.
My own range!
When I was asked to create my very own range for Look Again, I was over the moon! It’s something I’ve always dreamed of. I don’t think it will ever sink in, as the whole experience has been amazing from start to finish. It has taught me so much about the production, buying process and marketing of a fashion collection that I would never normally be able to experience first-hand.
I was really excited by the challenge of designing a collection for a very specific customer who knows exactly which styles suit them. They know that they can find those styles on Look Again, so remain loyal to the brand. This meant I had a huge responsibility to make sure that I delivered a look and style that fitted in with the brand, whilst giving the customer what they wanted. I wanted to give the Look Again customer something that was both fun and elegant, and a little different to what they would usually wear – but not so different that it would scare them off! I think I’ve achieved that and I can’t wait to see what the customers’ reactions are.
I’m so grateful to Look Again for this opportunity, as it is the first step in my career as a designer. I now have a collection with my name on it which is a dream come true, and I hope the future is just as bright!
